The Unholy Trinity - The Crucifixion Continues

Holy Thursday's horror story of Jesus, the young idealistic preacher from rural Palestine, being beaten, tortured (Abu grad style) and finally killed, is more than the tale of one poor soul - It's a continuing saga.

Basically it goes like this: Jesus, born poor, an outsider to the Jerusalem power establishment, answers God's call on his life and begins ministering to his peers (poor, powerless outsiders). He is so honest and sincere the people fall in love with him (power elites hates that). His popularity becomes so great the Jewish power structure feels threatened (happens every time). So they seek to take him out.

PROBLEM: If you wish to do public evil you must capture the support of the people. The Jewish ecclesiastical power module, the Sanhedrin = CHURCH, could arrest him but they were terrified the people would rebel. So after unifying the Jewish CHURCH, the right (Pharoses) and the left (Seduces), they tried and convicted this innocent man. But Jesus was still safe because the power elite of every social order, throughout history, have three components that must be harnessed to do its work: CHURCH - MILITARY and STATE. These names may vary and degree of influence may ebb and flow, but the same three players exercise power in every society in every age.

In Jesus' case the Sanhedrin (CHURCH) hauled him to the Roman Occupation Governor Pilate (MILITARY), to get a "guilty." Finally, it was off to Herod (STATE) for another "guilty." Remember all politicians [church - military - state] almost ALWAY bow to power, NEVER

to righteousness.

Most Americans are oblivious to this "unholy trinity," these forces that control our destiny. Even worse many people, especially from the faith community, actually believe the events impacting the world around them should be ignored, that God is in charge of all things, even minutia, and we need only to -"Praise the Lord" (God and Country folks).

It is remarkable at how little things have changed in world dynamics since the night the people of God allowed their loving prophet to be killed. Most folks are satisfied to remain ignorant and powerless over their lives and those around them.

Over the past seven years we have seen a reenactment of the crucifixion drama (sociologically speaking) in our own country. The CHURCH (mainly right - the left capitulating), joined the STATE through the acts of our prophet president and his Sanhedrin of neo-cons. The MILITARY where usurped through the abduction of the National Guard. The trinity complete, they were ready to create an evil of almost untold portions leaving 200,000 (+/-) dead and the nation a trillion dollars it debt.

As in Jesus' trial, lies, deception and fear were the tools of implementation.

The only difference then and now? This time those hanging on the cross are our children, their elders yelling "crucify them" and our "leaders," wearing their "Support Our Troops" T-shirts, smugly revel in the increase in their Dubai fortunes. The Unholy Trinity, Jesus or America's young, it's all the same - For God's Sake.
